App Development & DiGA

Apps people actually use – all the way to apps on prescription.

From the first idea to the App Store: we develop iOS, Android and cross-platform apps – and guide DiGA (Germany's digital health applications, “apps on prescription”) on their way into the directory of the German Federal Institute for Drugs and Medical Devices (BfArM). With heart, brains and German thoroughness when it comes to data protection.

Free & non-binding – half-finished ideas welcome.

DiGA agency: digital health applications from Germany

With Germany's Digital Healthcare Act, the app on prescription became reality: doctors can prescribe digital health applications (DiGA), and the statutory health insurers cover the costs. For manufacturers this is a huge opportunity – and a demanding path: the Medical Device Regulation, DiGAV requirements, data protection and information security evidence, and the fast-track procedure at BfArM.

This is exactly where we come in: we build your health application from day one so that it stands up to the regulatory requirements – while remaining an app that patients genuinely like opening. Because the best clinical evidence is worthless if users drop out after two weeks.

App development that starts with the user

Whether it's a health app, a service app for your customers or an internal tool: we don't start with technology, we start with people. Who uses the app, in which situation, with what goal? The answers become clickable prototypes, then lean first versions (MVPs) that gather real feedback early – before a large budget flows in the wrong direction.

  • Technology-neutral advice: native, Flutter or React Native
  • DiGA experience: from concept to BfArM listing
  • GDPR-compliant backends hosted in Germany
  • One team for the app, design and system integration

From sketch to store

Apps are built in dialogue – not behind closed doors.

We develop in short cycles and show clickable prototypes early. You watch your app grow, test with real users and make decisions based on feedback instead of gut feeling. The result is a product in the store that actually gets used.

Discovery & prototyping

Who uses the app, when and why? The answers become clickable prototypes that we test with real users – before budget flows into development.

Native & cross-platform

iOS, Android or both: we give technology-neutral advice on native development, Flutter and React Native – depending on your requirements and budget.

Idea & discovery

Clickable prototypes instead of a specification document – real user reactions before the first line of code.

2

Design & MVP

A lean first version that covers the essentials – testable early, quick to adapt.

3

Development in cycles

Short sprints, regular reviews – you see the progress, not just the end result.

4

Store release & operations

Publication, monitoring and updates – we stay on board after launch.

Our approach

Our apps take shape around the user

From the first paper prototype to the store release: we develop iteratively, test early with real people and deliver in short cycles – so you end up with an app that isn't just installed, but used every day.

Project example

Cleaning management for University Medicine Greifswald

For University Medicine Greifswald (UMG) we designed a tablet-based task centre: room status, defect reports and cleaning orders clearly arranged in one place. The design is fully developed – a good example of how we translate complex internal workflows into clear interfaces that work in everyday use.

Frequently asked questions

Good to know.

What is a DiGA?

A DiGA (one of Germany's digital health applications) is an app on prescription: an approved medical device that doctors can prescribe and whose costs are covered by Germany's statutory health insurers. Approval runs through the BfArM directory according to the requirements of the DiGAV regulation.

How much does app development cost?

Simple apps start in the mid five-figure range; complex applications with a backend, integrations or medical-device requirements sit above that. In a free intro call you get an honest assessment for your project.

How long does DiGA approval take?

From concept to listing in the DiGA directory typically takes 12 to 24 months – including development as a medical device, data protection and information security evidence, and the fast-track procedure at BfArM.

Native or cross-platform – which is better?

It depends on the use case: cross-platform (e.g. Flutter or React Native) saves costs when you need iOS and Android at the same time. Native development pays off for high performance requirements or deep hardware integration. Our advice is technology-neutral.

Your app idea deserves an honest conversation.
